Eisaa (Traditional dance)
"Eisa" is an important dance to send ancestors off to the afterlife, and with a long history it is a traditional performing art that has been passed down in the region. Danced to the sounds of the sanshin, songs, and rhythm of the taiko drums, "Eisa" is a powerful dance that is so popular among locals that large festivals are held, attracting tourists as well as locals of the prefecture.
Local people go around dansing Eisaa every August to September.
Yachimun no sato
Yachimun is the general term for pottery made in Okinawa.
Some are simple and sturdy, while others feature colorful designs that exude a tropical feel. They are popular as everyday utensils for Okinawans and as souvenirs for tourists.
Yachimun Village, located just 15 minutes from village SENAHA, is where many potters gather and set up their pottery studios, continuing to pass on Okinawa's traditional culture.
